Part II

As promised, I'm gonna posts some pictures taken on the second day of our shooting. YEY!

We had a very long day that time. Since we didn't prepare any script, everything was impromptu.
Much time was wasted because we didn't plan ahead. Our minds were blank and can't think of any concept.
But thank God, we still finished it that day.
The shoot was done at about 7pm already.
We are really exhausted at the end of the day.

Lesson learned: Plan ahead to maximize time and avoid delays. :)

These are what we did during that day.........

We went back to Charligail @ Damosa

New Blog Address

I have been thinking about my blog this week. This blog has been outdated. No recent blog post. I am planning to revamp my blog but I cannot come up with an idea yet. And so, I thought of changing my blog title or changing my blog address. After so much thinking, I have decided to change my blog address rather than change my blog title. I am not really good at giving adorable titles :(  so it's hard for me to think of another one.

This blog title really sounds familiar. I know it's not unique and original but I love it. I wanted my blog title to start with the letter S because my name starts with this letter.
And this came out to my mind first "spice up your life :)".
This really suits the reason why I decided to keep this blog posted.
(FYI: this blog was created for school purposes. read my first post HERE)
I wanted to spice up my life through blogging.
I hope that in the years to come, I would become a better and more responsible blogger.

By the way, my new blog address is

                                                                                                                          love lots,

In the News

Yey! Exam week is over. So I have a time now to update my blog.

This post is our requirement in school. Supposedly, it should be submitted through our respective blogs but our teacher decided that we submit a hard copy for easy checking. Since I still haven't created a blog post recently, I decided to post my reaction paper about an economic issue to leave readers something new to read.

In Partial Fulfillment of ECON 222

Cebu Pacific's 2011 earnings fall on high fuel costs

MANILA, Philippines - Budget carrier Cebu Pacific's earnings last year fell by almost half due to high jet fuel costs.
In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Gokongwei-led airline said its 2011 net income amounted to P3.624 billion, down 47.6% from P6.922 billion in 2010.
It said the 16.7% growth in its revenues to P33.935 billion failed to offset the increase in its expenses.
Cebu Pacific's operating expenses grew 34.3% to P30.408 billion last year as fuel costs surged 39.3% amid escalating global market prices. Fuel made up about 50% of the airline's total expenses.
Cebu Pacific flew 11.94 million passengers last year, 14% higher than 2010's 10.5 million, but narrowly missing the company's 12 million target.

Fuel surcharges
Due to higher oil prices, Cebu Pacific wants to hike fuel surcharges collected from passengers of its local flights.
The airline has asked the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to approve a P50 to P100 adjustment in surcharges.
The International Air Transport Association’s price monitor showed that jet fuel prices reached $137.1 per barrel as of March, up 9.7% from the same period last year and 6.1% higher compared to the previous month.
The CAB set the hearing for Cebu Pacific's petition on March 22.

REACTION:

News about oil price hike is not new to us. This issue does not only affect one person or firm but it affects a lot of people or the economy as a whole. Oil price hike is a burden to motorist, consumers and even business entities that uses large amounts of fuel in their operation. Due to the high price of fuel in the market, the price of other commodities would increase as well. This would be another load for the consumers. They will be forced to buy products that are expensive because it is necessary for their everyday living and be left with nothing on their pockets. When I read the news about the decrease in Cebu Pacific’s earnings, I realized that high fuel costs do not only affect prices of commodities but also the price of services offered by some firms.

In the case of Cebu Pacific, they opted to increase fuel surcharges that they collect from passengers. This decision can affect the outcome of their operations. Increase in fuel surcharge would mean increase in price paid by the passengers. People may hesitate to buy a ticket or not. This would result to fewer sales and less customers. Customers might opt to wait for promo fares to lessen the costs of traveling. On a positive note, the increase in fuel surcharge can give the firm enough funds to cover expenses on high fuel costs.

I think, the government should resolve this problem. They should work hand in hand with the department of energy (DOE) to regulate the prices of oil in the market. I know this is not simple but with right decision and plan, everything would be possible. If the government can regulate prices of oil, this would be a big help to all people – motorists, consumers and even big firms. It is also important for people to be aware of this issue for them to cope up with change in their living. People should also make right decisions and be wise consumers.

Blog Updated

Hello blogworld! It's been along time since my last blogpost. I've been very busy with school stuff -- exams, quizzes, assignment and project. There's no exciting event that had happened so I don't have something to share. I would take this opportunity to create a blogpost since I'm already logged in.

This would be a very boring post...no pictures. But I appreciate if you still read! :) The following are my random thoughts:

Let's talk about VALENTINE'S DAY!

It was just an ordinary day for me. I didn't receive anything -- not even a stem of rose. When I arrived in school, I saw many girls holding flowers and gifts. I thought to myself: "sana may matanggap din ako today." I didn't expect anything so I was still happy that day. ( I don't feel bitter) Unlike my classmate, she's kinda bitter but she has a boyfriend and received a gift that day. I don't understand her. To change her mood, I told her: "Everyday should be Valentine's Day!" and she said in reply: " TAMA! we don't need valentine's day to show love and be loved." That conversation changed her mood.
I had a dinner date with my family on the night of Feb14. We ate at NJoy BBQ located at Lanang. It's a new restaurant so we try it out. They serve pork and chicken barbeques, soup, vegetable dishes and many more. They also offer "UNLIMITED RICE" --favorite of DavaoeƱos. I didn't have a chance to take pictures because I was tired from school and already very hungry.

25TH AWITENISTA

I watched the 25th Awitenista Grand Finals held @ CAP Auditorium last Feb. 19, 2012.

What  is Awitenista by the way? Awitenista is an original song composition contest open to all Ateneo Community.

14 bands competed for the trophy of the 25th Awitenista. There were different categories -- Religious, Nationalistic, Contemporary, and Jam Atenista (song about Ateneo stuff). Two of my classmates were lucky to qualify in the Grand Finals. I'll try if I can post their songs here. I didn't take photos because we're seated so far from the stage and I only have a digital camera. I will try if I can grab photos from somebody and post it on this blog. ( I will ask permission. I promise)

OK! I think that's all for today!

Wanna share your thoughts?

Party like it's 2012

Goodbye 2011, hello 2012!

2011 is a roller coaster of emotions. But no matter how many challenges I encountered, disappointment and loneliness I experienced, the best thing is I ended up the year with a happy disposition and positive vibes. This crazy roller coaster ride made me realize a lot of things. Those are things that taught me a lesson in life. There are also a lot of things to thank for in 2011. First, I would like to thank God for giving me another year to grow and be mature, another year to experience new things and most especially be with the people I love. Thank you for continuing to shower us with blessings that gave us the chance to share it with others. Thank you to my parents who never fails to support me and love me. To my friends who always puts a smile to my face and makes me literally to laugh out loud. I couldn't mention you one by one. You know that you'll always be in my heart. I would like to say sorry to the people I have hurt and I am forgiving those people who hurt me. Let's just spread the LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this 2012.

2011 has been a great year and I'm looking forward to greater things that 2012 has to offer. I hope that there would be more laughters, surprises and blessings to come. Let's start this year with good vibes.

Have a fantastic start of new year.
Be happy and smile!

Share your thoughts dear friends...

Christmas Eve

I know this post is kinda overdue but I think I still have to publish it. It was supposed to be posted last Dec. 25 but I didn't have the time to turn on the computer and update my blog  for the past 3 days.

It was around 8:00 in the evening when we started to drive around downtown to look for people sleeping on the streets with nothing to eat for noche buena. We prepared a little present for them. Something that they could eat and share with their family as they welcome the Christmas Day. It was just a small package but we hope that we made them happy.

My dad started giving gifts to the less fortunate last year. It was only 7 packages then and now it's 14 packages. (his fave number is 7 and he's planning to add 7 more packages each year. so next year [if my dad's resources would allow him], it would be a total of 21 packages to be given on Christmas eve) This is his way to give back and share the blessings he received for the whole year. A way to reach out and make other people happy. It was fulfilling seeing people forming smiles on their faces as they receive our humble gift. There were indeed many homeless people living in the cold streets. Some of them may have not eaten something and just put themselves to sleep so they couldn't think of the hunger. I hope that people would see this situation and help them even in a small way. I know you may think they would become dependent if they would always receive gifts but it is not bad to share. Let's just make sure that they are not being abusive and becoming a parasite. I still believe that it is better to teach them how to catch fish than just to feed them. I am looking forward to see more happy faces next year.

Love,
Shernaz

December 24th

24th of December

People are very busy preparing for Christmas eve.
Cooking for noche buena.
Wrapping gifts.
Visiting friends.
And last minute Christmas Shopping.

Christmas breeze really filled the air.
But the Question is: Does everybody know the purpose of celebrating Christmas?
For some, YES. For others, NO.
Christmas is not just a time for gift giving.
It is a time of sharing, praying, thanking and forgiving.
The true spirit of Christmas is not represented by material gitfs but what is inside our hearts.
It is also the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior.

The expensive gifts and preparations are useless if the true purpose of Christmas is neglected.
Let's give LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Christmas.

a Merry Christmas to all!

xoxo
Shernaz

A Philippine Wonder

Puerto Princesa Underground River among 'New 7 Wonders of Nature'

GENEVA - The Philippines' Puerto Princesa Underground River, the Amazon rainforest, Vietnam's Halong Bay and Argentina's Iguazu Falls were named among the world's new seven wonders of nature, according to organizers of a global poll.

The other three crowned the world's natural wonders are South Korea's Jeju Island, Indonesia's Komodo, and South Africa's Table Mountain, said the New7Wonders foundation, citing provisional results.
Final results will be announced early 2012, said the Swiss foundation, warning however that there may yet be changes between the provisional winners and the final list.

Sites which have failed to make the cut include Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro, the Dead Sea and the US Grand Canyon.

The poll organized by Swiss foundation New7Wonders has attracted great interest, mobilizing celebrities including Argentinian football star Lionel Messi calling on fans to pick his home country's Iguazu Falls.
The results came after a long consultation process lasting from December 2007 to July 2009, when world citizens were asked to put forward sites which they deemed were natural wonders.
More than a million votes were cast to trim the list of more than 440 contenders in over 220 countries down to a shortlist of 77.

The group was then further cut to the 28 finalists by a panel of experts.

Anyone in the world was then able to vote for the final seven via telephone, text messages or Internet social networks.

Founded in 2001 by filmmaker Bernard Weber in Zurich, the foundation New7Wonders is based on the same principle on which the seven ancient wonders of the world were established. That list of seven wonders was attributed to Philon of Byzantium in ancient Greece.

New7Wonders said its aim is to create a global memory by garnering participation worldwide.
But even as the natural wonders poll came to a close, the New7Wonders foundation has set its eyes on a new survey -- the top seven cities of the world. Participating cities will be announced on January 1, 2012.

Personal Reaction:

Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR)  is one of the famous tourist spots in Palawan. If you visit Palawan, your vacation wouldn't be complete if you will miss to see this Underground River. PP Underground River is truly a “must-see”. The survey of the New 7 Wonders opened an opportunity not just for Puerto Princesa, Palawan but the Philippines as well, to showcase its natural wonder. When PPUR was recognized as one of the New 7 Wonders, more tourists were willing to visit Puerto Princesa. Because of this, more people would get to know the Philippines and tourism will boom here.  It is an economic issue because this will have effects on our economy. This may lead to opening of more businesses and  providing more jobs for the Filipinos. Unemployment could be lessend. Some businesmen may be attracted to invest here in our country. The Philippines as a whole will benefit from this news because tourists, after visiting Palawan would be driven to book for a trip to other places in our country such as Cebu, Bohol or Boracay. The Philippines will have a chance to be known worlwide due to its booming tourism and economy. We can say that this will result to a domino effect for our country. Our economy would improve in the long run if Philippines would continue to nurture its natural beauty.

Puerto Princesa Underground River is truly a pride of  Palawan and especially the Philippines. It is a natural wonder indeed. Filipinos should move hand in hand in preserving this picturesque Underground River. Despite the large number of tourists who visits there, PPUR remains unpolluted. More than the financial boost that it will give our country, Filipinos voted for it for the glory and honor of the Philippines. We should truly be happy that PPUR became one of the New 7 Wonders. As Filipinos, we should continue to flaunt what the Philippines have.
